One of the things which we noticed while searching online for accommodation in Siem Reap is that it is full of resorts and luxurious hotels. When we arrived there, what we supposed while searching online, was true: you can see a resort everywhere you turn your head on the main roads, they are literally everywhere.
With this image of the accommodations in this town, we chose to book our stay at Community Residence Siem Reap, which is conveniently located just a few minutes from Angkor temples and not far from the city center.

We arrived way earlier than the check in time and we were greeted by the reservations manager with a smile and a welcoming drink. They were kind enough to make an early check in for us. First of all, after you cross the main gate, you will see that this place is a true oasis, a garden designed by them which features local plants (lemongrass, mint), fruit trees (banana trees, jack fruit trees, mango trees, palm trees with coconuts), a vegetable garden and ponds full of fish. All of these are used in the kitchen and you are always assured of the freshness of the ingredients.

When we were taken to our bungalow we were completely amazed by the size, the design and the furniture inside it. It successfully incorporates Cambodian art and workmanship with a king size bed nicely built on a huge platform which allows you to keep things near the bed, with the nice desk and chair, with lovely window shutters, all worked in a colonial manner combining vintage and old with modern twists. We felt like in a real home and not like in a hotel.

The bathroom and the shower are big and it features white decorative stones all around the showering area, successfully replacing the boring tiles. There is even a walk in wardrobe where you can keep your luggage and hang your shirts. The window shutters, once opened will lead you to a big terrace with two comfortable easy-chairs and a glass table.

Community Residence Siem Reap offers 3 king bungalows, 3 twin bungalows, 2 family bungalows and 1 family suite with a fully equipped kitchen.

After we settled in and took our breath, we went down to enjoy the big swimming pool which is absolutely amazing, ideally positioned in the interior yard, surrounded by trees and plants. Sun beds are the perfect way to relax after a swim, have a drink from the restaurant and read a book. Pool towels are included.

After exploring the city, we came back to jump in the comfortable huge bed and get a good night rest. In the morning it was time to go for breakfast, which is complimentary for all the guests. Although it is not an open buffet, there are enough options to order and it will be prepared fast. Because we are fans of good bread, we loved the bakery basket with different types of breads and croissants. The restaurant also offers full lunch and dinner menus with local dishes and western food as well.

There are lots of other facilities which are offered and can make your stay with them more pleasant and easier. Complimentary tuk tuk shuttle to down town and complimentary shuttle to the airport. The end of day SPA is a massage which can be offered in your room after a busy day exploring the temples and the city. The cooking class includes a local market tour where you will pick up your ingredients and then learn to prepare three Khmer dishes. Siem Reap tours are also available and you can book them in advance or while you are accommodated there.
We highly recommend Community Residence Siem Reap to anyone who visit Siem Reap and wants to stay in a warm place which will remind them more of a home than a hotel.
